Asiko Afrobeat Ensemble is a 10 piece all-original afrobeat band led by Ogidi, Nigeria native Foly Kolade. Foly’s music, rooted in the greats like Fela Kuti, King Sunny Adé and Ebo Taylor draws upon his Yoruba culture and early life in 1980’s Nigeria, picking up influences like reggae, gospel and rock along his journey through New York to Toronto. Foly, supported by his electrifying band, takes this musical lineage to an unmistakably contemporary place.

Asiko’s music is celebratory but also carries vital messages of our time: keeping culture alive, questioning the modern media landscape and working towards social justice. When on stage, Asiko’s massive driving sound, singable melodies and deep grooves gets people up off their seats and moves both their hearts and bodies.
