This BROOKLYN JAZZ concert will focus on Ornette Coleman—one of the boldest and most influential musicians in jazz history, whose ideas fundamentally changed perceptions of improvisation, melody, and ensemble freedom. He became one of the central figures of the free jazz movement, creating music in which structure, spontaneity, and collective dialogue exist in a delicate balance.
Ornette Coleman’s sound is vivid and unpredictable. In this concert, his music will be interpreted by Andrew Downing alongside an international ensemble of musicians, focusing on Coleman’s characteristic freedom and untamed musical thinking.
Concert lineup:
Andrew Downing – double bass
Ivars Artyunyan – drums
